Our Story

Bright Vision Abled Tech LLC grew out of a father-and-son partnership dedicated to one mission: providing digital accessibility to all and ensuring equitable participation in the digital landscape. The heart of this journey is my son, Jerry. Now eighteen, Jerry is a survivor of childhood leukemia and a two-time bone marrow transplant recipient whose life is a testament to tenacity. Despite profound physical challenges—including vision impairment, kidney failure, and an immunocompromised status—Jerry refused to be sidelined. He mastered JAWS and Braille, taught himself Spanish, and even created a popular YouTube channel to share his digital life, gaming, and technology insights. Today, he is a certified DHS Trusted Tester and a WCAG Subject Matter Expert, having documented his journey by co-authoring the inspiring book, Faith over Fear: Poetry and Arts by Two Siblings with Cancer, with his sister.

Witnessing Jerry’s resilience firsthand gave my career path—from UC Berkeley PhD and Assistant Professor to Senior Software Engineer and startup founder—a profound new purpose.

By merging Jerry’s first-hand perspective with Dr. Yang's background in complex software architecture, we have dedicated ourselves to two primary goals: pioneering the creation of new, inclusive technologies and ensuring digital accessibility to all by making existing platforms fully usable for everyone, including those with disabilities. We don't just check boxes for WCAG 2.2 or Section 508; we work to ensure that all Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is authentically accessible. At Bright Vision Abled Tech, we believe technology should be an open door.

National Media Recognition & Public Advocacy

Bright Vision Abled Tech LLC operates at the intersection of technical excellence and national advocacy. Our leadership’s journey has been featured prominently on ABC’s Good Morning America and KTSF 26, where we have championed the cause of digital and medical inclusion for underrepresented communities. By sharing our story of resilience on a national stage, we have successfully mobilized thousands of individuals toward civic action, including a record-breaking donor drive that added over 1500 ethnically diverse candidates to the national registry in a single week. This level of media engagement reflects our ability to communicate complex, high-stakes missions to a broad public audience—a skill we bring to every government partnership.

Legislative Leadership & Texas State Policy

We don’t just follow standards; we help shape the laws that protect the most vulnerable. Our team has been a driving force in Texas legislative advocacy, meeting directly with U.S. Senators and House representatives to champion Texas House Bill 780 and the federal STAR Act. Participation in Childhood Cancer Action Day allowed us to bridge the gap between community needs and legislative policy, ensuring that the voices of those with lived disabilities are heard in the halls of government.

Ambassadorship & Community Partnership

Our commitment to service is reflected in our long-standing roles as Ambassadors for Blood Cancer United (formerly the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society) and the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP). We have spearheaded large-scale community events in partnership with local organizations.
